d’Arry’s Verandah at d’Arenberg has just been awarded its 5th Australian Good Food Guide Chef Hat nod in consecutive years. It’s a prestigious achievement that could only have been accomplished with a dedicated, passionate team, and Head Chef Peter Reschke exudes all the respectability you can imagine for such a title.
“It’s always lovely to be recognised by peers, and to be held in high esteem along with some amazing restaurants around Adelaide and South Australia,” Reschke said. “It’s a wonderful recognition for the staff, and it truly makes what we do every day worthwhile.”

To be named by the Australian Good Food Guide in the top 1% of restaurants across Australia is a massive achievement in itself. But to get Chef Hats for not two, not three, but five consecutive years, proves that d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant is showcasing some of the most impressive dining in the state.
The restaurant received a 14 Chef Hat award, a category that defines a restaurant as having ‘food quite out of the ordinary – worth a stop on the way’.
“You’ve got so many other amazing restaurants in the list,” Reschke said. “So to be awarded a 14 Chef Hat is really quite an honour.”
“We do what we do out of passion,” Reschke continued. “So it’s a nice pat on the back for everybody involved.”

d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant is on the beautiful d’Arenberg property immediately next to the d’Arenberg Cube. It’s in the ideal spot to showcase exquisite local food paired seamlessly with the world-renowned d’Arenberg wine portfolio.
Husband and wife powerhouse duo, Head Chef Peter Reschke and Restaurant Manager Jo Reschke have been running d’Arry’s for almost 21 years. In that time they’ve gone on to achieve spectacular success and critical acclaim.
Dating back to 2005, d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant has been awarded upwards of 30 official accolades, making it one of the more decorated dining venues in SA, with a huge amount of staying power over the years.

d’Arry’s was named Best Restaurant in a Winery four times between 2005 and 2016, with a total of nine wins in the category over its time operating. It recorded its first Chef Hat in 2019 among plenty of other critical acclaim.
The restaurant radiates a welcoming atmosphere, with classy but exceptionally friendly fine-dining service. Head Chef Reschke describes the food as very approachable, and we know the menu is extraordinarily delicious, and beautifully made. There’s plenty of choice, with a la carte options always running, and degustation menus with a plant-based option available.
The menu rotates on a three month basis to ensure the absolute best, seasonal quality food is available. “We try to always emphasise local produce from the McLaren Vale region,” Reschke said. “My wife and I are already working on the next menu!”
We have it on good authority that the d’Arry’s Verandah signature dish, Australian Lobster medallion with Shark Bay blue swimmer crab, Australian prawn ravioli and lobster bisque is absolutely to die for.

The view from d’Arry’s Verandah is quite indescribable, with sprawling vines and stretching greenery, you’ll look out to the Fleurieu and Sellicks hills in the distance, almost all the way to the sea. The 19th century building was updated in the late 90s to form the first iteration of the restaurant, the Verandah Inn.
The interior has a charming historic feel to it, with wooden floors taken from former wool sheds near West Beach. Think refined yet rustic, with a luxurious open, airy feeling. It’s a perfectly elegant spot to take in the beauty of McLaren Vale and enjoy an award-winning lunch.
d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant is open for lunch seven days a week, and all diners will get complimentary access to the d’Arenberg Cube, to view the astonishing Salvador Dalí collection.
