Four-course Port Adelaide long lunch brings together Clare Valley wines, rock and live opera

A four-course Port Adelaide long lunch will pair eight Clare Valley wines with live performances spanning opera, musical theatre and Aussie rock.

Port Adelaide is serving up a Sunday lunch that moves from bubbles and oysters to Puccini and the Bee Gees, with a four-hour food, wine and live music experience coming to the waterfront this August.

Clare Valley winemaker Greg Cooley will take over Vivu Vietnamese Kitchen on Sunday, August 2, bringing eight of his wines to the table for a four-course long lunch.

Guests will be welcomed with bubbles and oysters before settling in for a menu prepared by the Vivu team, with each course matched to wines from the Greg Cooley Wines range.

Throughout the afternoon, Cooley will share the stories behind the wines and his journey as a winemaker, with the event designed to make wine education relaxed and accessible rather than overly technical.

“It’s the perfect mix,” Cooley said.

“People are looking for an experience, more than just another wine lunch.”

Providing the soundtrack will be vocal trio TENORI, featuring David Kidd, Andrew Pryor and Stewart Morris, who are all former members of The Ten Tenors.

The group’s repertoire moves between grand opera, musical theatre and popular music, with songs by Puccini, Tom Jones and the Bee Gees appearing alongside selections from Les Misérables and other unexpected additions.

Rather than a traditional concert where audiences remain seated and silent, the singers will perform throughout the lunch, creating a more relaxed experience where the food, wine and entertainment are given equal billing.

The event will be held at Vivu Vietnamese Kitchen on Commercial Road, close to Port Adelaide’s waterfront and historic precinct.

The four-hour format allows plenty of time between courses, giving guests the chance to hear from the winemaker, enjoy the live performances and explore the eight included wines without the afternoon feeling rushed.

Tickets are $125 per person and include the arrival oysters and bubbles, four courses, eight wines and all live entertainment.

The Greg Cooley Wines Long Lunch at Vivu Vietnamese Kitchen will be held from 12pm to 4pm on Sunday, August 2.
