A viral dessert trend has been doing the rounds on our social media feed lately and we’re not mad about this cute cake-inspired sweet treat.

If you haven’t heard of a dot cake, not to worry. The mini dessert is basically a cake served in a small cup, layered with buttercream frosting and topped with those rainbow sprinkles Australia calls hundreds and thousands (aka dots).

Essentially the viral dessert is a cake in a cup, or what we know as a cupcake, but this one has a better ring to it. The trend originates from a bakery in New York and quickly became an internet sensation for their aesthetic looks, crunchy texture and indulging taste.

If you’re wanting to get your hands on these sweet treats in Adelaide, we’ve done the research so you don’t have to.
