Hooray For Bollywood! Free Movies In The Mall Season Extended

After just two weeks, Tuesday evening after work movies in the mall have proven so popular that the Rundle Mall Management team have decided to extend the season through to the end of August.

Free films from 5:30pm, hot food and drinks available to buy, seating provided and outdoor heaters make them ‘must do’ events not to miss after a tough day at the desk!

The “Rundle Mall Film Festival” commenced with the Academy Award winning “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” on July 10th, to kick off a month of Chinese films.

August will bring Bollywood to the Mall with a stellar line up of films including;

Tuesday 21 August – Salaam Namaste
Salaam Namaste is about two Indians who have left their houses to make a life on their own, and how they meet and how they tackle their own relationships and problems and overcome them themselves without their families.

Tuesday 28 August – Bend It Like Beckham
A Smash hit when it was released in 2002 – the daughter of orthodox Sikh rebels against her parents' traditionalism by running off to Germany with a soccer team.

Rundle Mall Management Authority General Manager, Martin Haese said "this initiative is yet more proof Adelaidians are seeking an active city hub beyond office hours. It was a risk of course, but we had confidence that with the Gawler Place canopy, hot food and heaters, people would embrace the concept and it has paid off – to the point we've has to bring in more chairs" he said.

“We look forward to announcing more early evening trade activity in the mall leading up to the major renovations to commence in the coming months as part of the master plan redevelopment” said Mr Haese
