Interactive Illuminate Adelaide installation launches in Rundle Mall

A new installation has joined the likes of the pigeon and the famous golden pigs: Illuminate Adelaide’s newest attraction has launched in Rundle Mall.

Your work commute or shopping run through Rundle Mall has just gotten more colourful: A new installation has joined the likes of the pigeon and the famous golden pigs. 

The Sky Castle exhibit has launched as part of Illuminate Adelaide, and a series of light-up structures now reside near the HM. The curved structures look pastel during the day, but they light up neon during the night to guide your passage through Adelaide’s popular retail hub. 

This installation, which is also interactive and accompanied by melodies, was made by Melbourne artists ENESS. It will be open until Sunday, 15 August. 

This is the latest in a series of events from the free city lights program, Illuminate Adelaide, Australia’s newest major winter event. The program is a celebration of celebration of innovation, music, art and light that will host more than 150 installations, performances, and events – including 41 world premieres.

Most recently, Light Creatures has launched in the Adelaide Zoo as part of Illuminate Adelaide. Light, technology and some of the world’s most fascinating wildlife have come together in a new, immersive experience that will allow guests to wander around the zoo surrounded by neon versions of their favourite animals.

Illuminate Adelaide will create hundreds of jobs in South Australia and the opportunity for audiences around the country to explore a city brimful of innovative and immersive experiences.

The event is was made possible by SA Premier Steven Marshall through the South Australian Tourism Commission, and Illuminate Adelaide Co-Founders and Creative Directors Rachael Azzopardi and Lee Cumberlidge.
