Oggi Has A Secret Underground Dining Room You Should Know About

Following taking home an international award for best design win, we’ve uncovered Oggi’s gorgeous private cellar room.

Everyone is always on the hunt for somewhere cool to host their next event. Whether it’s for a birthday, anniversary or corporate meeting, it’s often gotta be somewhere that has great food, will impress your guests and generally just feels like a great space to be in. As it turns out, one of Adelaide’s most popular restaurants that we’ve been dining at for years, has their own secret underground cellar dining room.

In Osteria Oggi’s private cellar dining room, you and up to ten guests can intimately experience Oggi’s indulgent feasting menu. The style of the room follows Oggi’s international award-wining design and interestingly features, an open window that connects both dining spaces. This allows for guests to still enjoy some of the restaurant’s atmosphere, whilst create their own.

Everything at Oggi has been orchestrated to accommodate to the Italian way of wining and dining. The main dining room design replicates a piazza, where people gather to sit side by side. It’s true to the Italian philosophy that communal eating with friends and family is THE best way to experience food – sharing the heartiness of their homemade food, with the delight of familiar company.

Oggi was always destined to be a surefire hit before it even opened. In 2016 Oggi was named as one of the top ten place to dine in the world by CNN. Founded by Simon Karachi of Press* Food & Wine, The Pot Food & Wine, Melt, Proof, Maybe Mae and Bread & Bone. Oggi certainly had a legacy of successful ancestors to guarantee that the restaurant would generate hype the instant it was announced. Run by Chris Woodcock, and his culinary team of Andrew Davies, Mimi Rivers and Max O’Callaghan, Oggi is an establishment that celebrates Italian cuisine and culture, with emphasis on everyone’s one true love: pasta.

Osteria translates to ‘restaurant’ in Italian, and ‘Oggi’ means ‘today.’ Oggi is devoted to merging the tastes of sophisticated Italian food, inspired by traditional flavours, but being mindful of modern day tastes, and the best available seasonal produce. Pasta is made fresh daily, with other small dishes available, each paired with a curated selection of wines. The wines are developed in consultation with internationally renowned wine expert Tim White, offering both Italian wines, and Italian inspired Australian wines. The wine arrangements complement the changing food of the seasons. The tasting menu is recommend – that way, you can experience all the best flavours Oggi has to offer.
