One of Adelaide’s best-known riverside restaurants is launching an intimate new Winemaker’s Table series

Jolleys Boathouse is launching a new intimate dining series on the River Torrens, pairing South Australian produce with wines from Liz Heidenreich and O’Leary Walker Wines.

One of Adelaide’s most recognisable riverside restaurants is turning the spotlight on the people behind South Australia’s wine labels, with Jolleys Boathouse launching a new intimate dining series on the banks of the River Torrens.

The Winemakers Table is an intimate and immersive experience a carefully curated multi-course degustation menu created by Executive Chef Lino Sauro, with each course thoughtfully paired to showcase the distinct styles and characteristics of both Liz Heidenreich Wines and O’Leary Walker Wines.

Jolleys Boathouse events manager, Jaimmy Nanayakkara said the series was born from the idea of giving back to a community who had given so much to the venue.

“South Australia is home to some of the world’s most remarkable wine regions and talented winemakers, yet many wine lovers rarely have the opportunity to meet the people behind the labels, hear their stories, and understand the passion that goes into every bottle.

“The Winemaker’s Table has been created to bridge that gap by bringing together exceptional local food, boutique and premium South Australian wineries, and the Adelaide community around one shared table.”

For the inaugural event, the shared-table menu will begin with handmade sourdough, baby abalone with chickpea panelle, crispy golden Desiree potato pavé and beef tartare. The menu then moves into seafood with triple-cooked WA octopus, before a winter pumpkin and ricotta raviolo.

“Throughout the evening, guests will hear directly from David O’leary and Liz Heidenreich as they share the stories behind their wines, the unique terroir of their regions, and the passion that drives their craft,” Jaimmy said.

“Our aim is to create a relaxed, engaging atmosphere where great food, exceptional wine and genuine conversation come together around one table.”

The main course brings a richer, slow-cooked element to the menu, with South Australian lamb neck fillet cooked over 24 hours in a tajine-style dish. The tender lamb is served with harissa, wild mushrooms and pita, bringing together gentle heat, earthy flavours and a rich sauce designed to be scooped up at the table.

A cheese board, with a selection of some of the best loca cheeses is made to finish, without the heaviness of overly sweet desserts.

Jolleys Boathouse has a beautiful river backdrop that ties the whole night together, so mark your calendars because your Friday night plans are officially sorted.
