One of South Australia’s best-known aerial adventure parks has entered a new chapter, with Experience Co Limited acquiring West Beach Adventure at West Beach.
The acquisition marks the first time Experience Co’s Treetops Adventure business has entered South Australia, adding the popular coastal attraction to its growing national portfolio of high ropes, zipline and outdoor adventure experiences.
Located just 15 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, West Beach Adventure sits within the 135-hectare West Beach Parks tourism precinct, close to accommodation, golf facilities, and the nearby skate and BMX park.
Experience Co CEO John O’Sullivan said the move was a natural next step for the company as it continues to grow its adventure tourism offering across Australia.
“This acquisition aligns directly with our growth strategy to expand our Treetops Adventure experiences across Australia. West Beach Adventure complements our 15 existing Treetops Adventure sites which offer multi-obstacle, high ropes and zipline courses,” said Experience Co, CEO, John O’Sullivan. “This purchase also represents an expansion to our portfolio of urban-based adventure parks, including Next Level on the Sunshine Coast.”
The park is already home to a range of adrenaline-filled experiences, including the MegaClimb, which features more than 70 aerial obstacles and finishes with the 30-metre MegaJump. There’s also a Giant Swing that launches guests into the air at more than 70 kilometres per hour, a children’s adventure area with ten courses and a mini zipline, and a Skywalk offering views across the city.
Its 30-metre observation tower has also become a familiar part of the Adelaide coastline and has previously received an Excellence in Structural Engineering award.
“West Beach Adventure is already one of South Australia’s most impressive adventure attractions, but we believe the site offers exceptional scope to extend the range of experiences and create a true adventure and entertainment mega-hub which further strengthens Adelaide’s appeal as a tourism and recreation destination for residents and visitors alike,” concluded O’Sullivan.
The park has been owned and operated by Stephen Grundy and Bec Jarvis, who have grown West Beach Adventure into one of the state’s most successful adventure attractions, welcoming more than 25,000 visitors each year.
Stephen will remain involved in the business, working with the Treetops Adventure team as the site moves into its next phase.
“It was a difficult decision for us to sell West Beach Adventure, a business that has been our life for a decade. Once that decision was made, we couldn’t think of a better company to take on the legacy of Adelaide’s favourite Aerial Adventure facility. We can’t wait to see what exciting developments the team at Experience Co. will bring to the park. I’m sure whatever it is, it will become an even more exciting proposition for our South Australian customers.”
The park’s team of 22 employees will also join the Treetops Adventure network under newly appointed General Manager Mark Heinrich.
Alongside West Beach Adventure, Experience Co’s national portfolio includes Skydive Australia, NZOne, Skydive Wanaka, Great Barrier Reef tours and its growing Treetops Adventure network.
