Rewind to the 90s as Fringe show ‘The Millennial Mix’ celebrates an iconic generation

SA’s Jessica Bigg debuts her first solo show, ‘The Millennial Mix’, at Fringe, celebrating the anthems and an iconic generation.

Are you ready to take a dive into the heart of millennial nostalgia? Adelaide’s very own Jess Bigg, a seasoned singer and performer, is ready to entertain audiences with her first solo show at this year’s Adelaide Fringe, ‘The Millennial Mix’ (PG), promising an unforgettable trip down memory lane.

Running from Sunday the 25th of February to Sunday the 17th of March at Plant 4 Bowden, ‘The Millennial Mix’ celebrates the unique journey of a generation that grew up bridging the analog and digital worlds, and it’s sure to be one of the must-see shows this Fringe season.

‘The Millennial Mix’ is an interactive experience designed to resonate with millennials looking for a ‘much-needed break’ and a bit of celebration, promising an eclectic mix of ’90s anthems from The Bangles, Mariah Carey, TLC, the pop Queens and boy bands of the decade, Alanis Morissette and much more!

Jess Bigg is no stranger to the Adelaide Fringe scene, having performed alongside some of the city’s most talented artists during Fringe, and her experience is vast—from being a co-producer and performer in the successful Fringe show ‘Top of the Bops’, to working with some of Adelaide’s top musicians.

Bigg’s passion for her craft and her generation shines through in her debut solo show, which she describes as a ‘lighthearted celebration of the lives we’ve all lived, the memories we have, and the battles we’ve won’.

Bigg’s goal for ‘The Millennial Mix’ is to create a relaxed, conversational atmosphere where audiences can sing along to their favourite hits, reminisce about the simpler times, and even interact with memorabilia from their younger days, with the show standing out as a heartfelt tribute to a generation often misunderstood.

Bigg admits she’s ‘passionately millennial’ and, despite feeling a bit dated, loves learning Gen-Z slang and stretching her boundaries. Her enthusiasm for celebrating the millennial experience is infectious, making ‘The Millennial Mix’ a unique opportunity for attendees to reconnect with their roots and celebrate the era that shaped them.

From the days of dial-up internet and Tamagotchis to the anthems that became the soundtrack of our youth, Bigg invites her audience to embrace their millennial identity with pride and relive these classic memories all over again! It’s not just the awesome hits that will have you grooving in your seat; it’s about reliving the moments that defined a generation.

So, hang up the home phone, rewind the VHS tape, and get ready to burn the ultimate millennial mixtape. Whether you’re an elder millennial like Bigg herself or someone looking to recapture the essence of a vibrant generation, ‘The Millennial Mix’ is your permission slip to do just that at this year’s Fringe!
