Rundle Mall’s ‘A Doll’s House’ To Host Free Concert By Australian String Quartet

Taking place at 12.30pm, this is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with the Quartet’s priceless 18th century instruments.

Today, Rundle Mall will host a unique artistic experience when the Australian String Quartet takes to the stage inside Adelaide Festival’s A Doll’s House by Tatzu Nishi.

Taking place at 12.30pm, this is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with the Quartet’s priceless 18th century instruments.

From the ground floor of Tatzu Nishi’s A Doll’s House, the Quartet will play an exclusive performance of Bryce Dessner’s ‘Impermanence’, movement 7 Pulsing, commissioned by Sydney Dance Company and the Australian String Quartet, ahead of its world-premiere on 21st March, and Peter Sculthorpe’s String Quartet No.11 ‘Jabiru Dreaming’, named after a sacred Kakadu rock formation known for its beckoning and welcoming appearance.

“Bringing together the beautiful music of the Australian String Quartet, which is known for its unforgettable experiences, with the delight and discovery of A Doll’s House will be an incredible artistic event never seen before in Rundle Mall,” says Rundle Mall General Manager, Johanna Williams.

The Australian String Quartet is based at the Elder Conservatorium of Music at Adelaide University and is known around the world for its intimate performances.

Their delicate 18th century instruments are on loan exclusively to the Quartet from UKARIA.

A Doll’s House has been recreated for the second time in the world as a gift to the city to mark 60 years of the Adelaide Festival.
