SANTOS Festival Village has unveiled their action-packed program

The City of Adelaide Festival Village will play host to various trackside cycling disciplines as well as plenty of off-track family-friendly activities.

The Santos Festival of Cycling has unveiled the program for the City of Adelaide Festival Village at Victoria Square/ Tarntanyangga on Wednesday 26 January from 2:00 pm-10:30 pm.

The City of Adelaide Festival Village will play host to various trackside cycling disciplines including the fast-paced TREK Night Riders Criterium for both men and women where the best riders in the country will battle it out over bragging rights for the fastest and furious. 

It will also be the home of the Santos Paracycling Team Relay and freestyle BMX demonstrations by world-renowned talent including Jai Toohey, Kyle Baldock and Josh Matthews.

Off the track, families are welcome to spread out and enjoy the kids’ activities in the kids’ corner, including bike bowling, bike pit-stop check-in, and bike bell decorating, and show off their creations in the crowd-favourite FREE Westpac Family Ride.

To round out the day, festival-village goers will also be delighted by an acclaimed Australian musician to be announced in the coming days, for a FREE performance on the main stage just after 8.30 pm.

There will also be local food and beverage vendors to sample throughout the day and night, and ample open space to enjoy. 

Events South Australia Executive Director, Hitaf Rasheed, said the City of Adelaide Festival Village will offer a range of family activities for South Australians and visitors in the heart of Adelaide to relax and enjoy on the public holiday.

“The City of Adelaide Festival Village features a stellar line-up of entertainment as well as free activities for the whole family and we’re confident it will be a space that can be enjoyed safely by all those who come along,” Hitaf said.

Westpac State General Manager Consumer, Ben Owen said Westpac was excited to provide families free and exclusive access to the track right before the elite cyclists take the stage. 

“At Westpac, we’re big supporters of South Australia and look forward to helping families to get involved and have fun in the incredible atmosphere at the Trek Night Riders open-air family event.” 

Hitaf said the City of Adelaide Festival Village one-day program was designed in consultation with SA Health and adheres to an approved COVID Management Plan. 

“We are continuing to work closely with SA Health and SA Police and have developed a robust COVID Management Plan outlining community safety measures to deliver a safe and entertaining atmosphere at the City of Adelaide Festival VillageIf you are well, we would love to see you there,” Hitaf said.
