Adelaide Hills winery collaboration brings luxurious beachside dining

‘Meet the Maker – The Lane Vineyard Experience’, hosted at the Promenade Restaurant, will include a wine Masterclass with the Lane and a 3-course dinner.

The Lane Vineyard is one of Hahndorf’s favourite wine destinations, home to an acclaimed contemporary restaurant and tasting room a mere 25-minute drive from the Adelaide CBD.

Since the first vines were planted in 1993, The Lane Vineyard has been producing award-winning wines that represent some of the best in SA, including The Lane Vineyard’s 2019 ‘Heritage’ Shiraz Viognier, which was awarded “Best Shiraz” in the 2021 Adelaide Hills Wine Show.

This June, Adelaideans along the coast will have the opportunity to learn all about The Lane at the Stamford Grand’s Meet the Maker – The Lane Vineyard Experience. Hosted at the Promenade Restaurant, guests will be able to take delightful Adelaide Hills’ sips, while soaking in spectacular views of the Glenelg foreshore.

The Promenade Restaurant has always celebrated South Australian food and wine and is pleased to collaborate with The Lane Vineyard for this Meet the Maker Masterclass and Dinner experience.

“Meet the maker is a platform where Stamford can showcase brands (wine/gin/whiskey) and their stories to patrons and make them feel more connected,” said Food and Beverage Manager, Pankaj Tanwar.

“We are doing the series this year and starting with The Lane. Next in line will be Cut Hill Distillery and Bremerton Winery.”

Guests are greeted with a glass of The Lane Vintage Cuvee Blanc de Blancs 2016 on arrival, before commencing with the Masterclass portion of the evening.

Chief Winemaker Turon White from The Lane Vineyard will introduce guests to the four selected wines: The Lane Chardonnay 2020, The Lane ‘Beginning’ Chardonnay 2020, The Lane Sauvignon Blanc 2021, and The Lane ‘Gathering’ Sauvignon Semillon Blanc 2019 – the latter of which scored gold at the 2021 London Wine Competition.

After the Masterclass, even more especially selected wines will be expertly matched with a three-course dinner, designed by the Promenade’s Executive Chef Darren Greenwood.

Before diving into the three-course dinner, a shared grazing plate will be served, featuring Persian goat fetta, salmon rillettes, house marinated olives and sourdough. Rillettes is a method where meat is slow cooked and shredded, so the salmon will be a soft consistency, perfect to go on top of crackers or a slice of bread.

The first of the three courses will showcase Darren’s orange and dill cured kingfish, accompanied with mustard greens, orange segments, and roasted garlic croutons. This will be paired with The Lane Pinot Gris 2021 – a crisp and clean sip, with flavours of guava, honeysuckle, and crunchy Nashi pear.

Next up is the slow roasted lamb shoulder, served with fondant potatoes, roasted garlic and walnut, broad beans, and baby carrots. Lamb is best paired with a medium to full-bodied red, thus The Lane Shiraz 2020 will accompany this dish. Characterised as a classic, cool-climate shiraz with aromas of lifted violets and forest fruits, The Lane Shiraz was given 95 out of 100 by the Hailliday Wine Companion.

Finally, the third course features a deliciously indulgent Pinot Rose Sorbet made from (and accompanied with) the Lane Pinot Rose. So, enjoy delicious rose flavours both in wine and sorbet form!
