Adelaide Hills

Whipped ricotta, Tiramisu and Pappardelle lead the line up in this four course Adelaide Hills feast

With live music, open wood fires, rolling vineyard views and a four-course feast by Dolly, this is the ultimate winter day out in the Adelaide Hills.

Winter is when the Adelaide Hills heats up its offering, with quality red wine, open wood fires and food that chases the chills away. There’s really no place we’d rather be.

Speaking of the perfect spot to be, Paracombe Wines are hosting The Winter Table, a long lunch designed to immerse the senses in great food, beautiful wine and warm.

As part of the annual Winter Reds Festival, running from July 24 to 26, Paracombe Wines will open its doors for a rare winter weekend celebration.

The event stands out not only for its long-lunch menu, live music and rolling vineyard views, but also because Paracombe’s cellar door is usually available by appointment only, making this one of the more special stops on the Winter Reds calendar.

Paracombe is a family-run Adelaide Hills winery with a story rooted in resilience, place and quality winemaking

For the event, Paracombe Wines is teaming up with Dolly, the much-loved Unley wine and cocktail bar known for its long-lunch energy, generous share-style food, pasta, cocktails and relaxed all-afternoon dining.

Dolly’s menu is “run by culinary ace Sam Worrall-Thompson and the savvy team from Bar Lune and Fettle.”

Bringing that same easy, elegant approach to the Adelaide Hills, the Dolly team will be curating a four-course menu designed with plenty of good wine in mind.

Let’s move onto the good stuff; the food and wine offering.

The four course meal will focus on share-style lunches with sides all thoughtfully curated and prepared by the talented team at Dolly. The dishes aim to be shared and savoured together over the afternoon, every bite enjoyed and none wasted.

Starting strong, whipped ricotta drizzled in hot honey and thyme-infused will be paired with Gnocco fritto for a dangerously good dipping combination.

The first main course doesn’t waste time, bringing together tender slow-cooked beef cheek, glossy pappardelle ribbons and the savoury bite of pecorino. From there the juicy roast chicken comes out to play, finished with rich, chilli-spiked nduja butter and balanced by sweet pops of green peas.

Last of the mains but not least is a vibrant dish of tender roasted beetroot, creamy goat’s curd and candied pecans, lifted with a tangy balsamic glaze.

Because dessert fills the heart and not the stomach we’ll have all the room for the hero ending; a beautifully creamy tiramisu with layers of mascarpone, bold coffee and soft hints of cocoa throughout.

The drink list dips into the most premium Paracombe wines and even a special chance to explore the selection of their new releases.

On arrival guest will be greeted with a glass of wine and from there wines will be available to purchase by both the glass and bottle all afternoon, alongside an exclusive barrel tasting, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what’s to come from the cellar.

The atmosphere will build throughout the long lunch with live music flowing throughout the space and an outdoor fire pit creating an orange glow around the sweeping green vines.

Take this as your official invitation to slow, settle and indulge in great food, some of the best wines of the Hills and a little bit of Tiramisu. Be quick to book as spots are filling fast.
