$10 lunches are back in Rundle Mall as affordable winter dining deal returns to the CBD

Rundle Mall Plaza is serving up a month-long lineup of $10 meals with Korean comfort food, Japanese rice bowls, curries, sliders, sandwiches and more.

If you find yourself strolling through Rundle Mall in need of a bite of lunch, there’s a deal you won’t want to miss this winter.

Rundle Mall Plaza has brought back its Cheap Eats campaign, with a range of $10 meal deals across all six of its food retailers this July and August.

“The campaign originally came about as a way to support both our food retailers and CBD workers during the quieter winter months,” shared Rundle Mall Plaza’s Brionny Mills. “We wanted to create a reason for people to visit Rundle Mall Plaza, try something new and enjoy a quality meal at an affordable price. It has grown each year because both customers and tenants have embraced it, and it has become something people genuinely look forward to.” This year’s lineup includes a variety of cuisines, giving diners plenty of options for a budget-friendly lunch.

For $10, visitors can choose from Ban Ban’s Rose Tteokbokki, Caffe Da Marco’s Bacon & Egg Sandwich, Clio Café’s Crispy Chicken Slider with a small coffee, Kyoto Sushi’s Teriyaki Chicken Don, Soonta’s Mini Rice Bowl with a Soonta Peach Tea, or The Logical Indian’s Vegetarian Curry and Rice.

What started as a seasonal promotion has since become a fun annual event, with customers and businesses embracing the concept. The focus on affordability is particularly relevant this year, as households continue to navigate ongoing cost-of-living pressures.

“Affordability was a major consideration,” shared Brionny. “We know many people are being more conscious about their spending, particularly when it comes to eating out. So the idea behind the campaign is that you can still enjoy lunch, catch up with friends or treat yourself without feeling like you’ve spent a fortune.”

Unlike many dining promotions that focus on discounts or limited menu items, the Cheap Eats campaign sees each venue showcase one of its signature offerings, resulting in a diverse mix of flavours and cuisines under the one roof.

“One of the strengths of Rundle Mall Plaza is the variety of food options available within a relatively small footprint. Rather than trying to make every offer fit a particular theme, we encourage each retailer to showcase what they do best. Naturally, the result is a diverse range of cuisines and meal options, giving customers plenty of choice whether they’re after a quick lunch, something hearty on a cold day, or a lighter option.”

The campaign also highlights the importance of supporting local retailers during wintertime, when foot traffic can be slower.

“Our hospitality operators are an important part of the Rundle Mall Plaza precinct, and initiatives like Cheap Eats are designed to help drive visitation, particularly during the quieter winter months.”

So if you’re looking for a quick and affordable lunch in the city this July and August, Cheap Eats is worth checking out.
