Rob Roy Hotel brings back its sell-out Raclette evening for one night only

Experience a cosy European winter in Adelaide with Rob Roy’s sell-out Raclette Cheese Night returning on 17 July.

Whilst your friends, colleagues, and what feels like just about everyone you know is jetting off for their European Summer, one Adelaide venue is making the most of the cooler months, bringing the best of a European winter to Adelaide.

On 17 July, the Rob Roy Restaurant is bringing back its sell-out Raclette Cheese Night for a one-night-only affair, promising an excellent evening of the best Swiss delicacy, ‘straight from the Alps to Halifax St’.

For those of you who haven’t tried raclette before, let us take you through it. But fair warning: if you’re hungry, proceed with caution.

Raclette might seem like someone’s overblown stereotype of what they’d expect a Swiss or French man to eat in a cartoon — envision, perhaps, a twirled moustache, a baguette tucked under the arm, and a couple of ooh la las, and you get the picture. But trust us: raclette may sound like everyone’s cheese- and carb-loaded figment of the imagination, but it’s 100% real. Arnaud of Raclette Sympatik is bringing the authentic, real deal, Raclette experience to Rob Roy, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Raclette involves scraping delicious melted French cheese, straight onto a smorgasbord of all the best breads, pickles, onions, potatoes, sliced meats, and other charcuterie favourites.

Whilst the meal is often consumed in the heights of the Alps after a long day of skiing, snowboarding, or simply getting out and about in the snow, anyone here would know that traipsing the streets of Adelaide on a cold and rainy day is enough to develop a hefty appetite that requires a hearty raclette to warm you from the inside out.

But it won’t only be the cheese that’ll have you feeling all warm and fuzzy. Sharing a meal with your nearest and dearest is enough to warm anyone up. In true French-Swiss fashion, raclette is all about savouring every bite, slowing down, and sharing a meal around the table with those you care about most.

But with only limited seats available, and last year’s event selling out, we suggest getting in quick to ensure there are enough tickets for the whole family to get in on the action. Plus, with an award being handed out for the best ‘winter fashion’ of the night, it’s the perfect excuse to pull out the dress-up box and have a bit of fun showing off your best “chalet chic”
