Popular southside burger joint Grandalfs Burgers & Tacos is officially expanding north, with owner Jaidan announcing a second location is on the way for Elizabeth.
The new venue will open in the Elizabeth Shopping Centre Food Court, answering a long-running call from burger fans who have been asking the team to bring its stacked burgers further north.
Grandalfs currently operates from Colonnades Shopping Centre, Noarlunga Centre, where it has built a huge following for its big, social media-ready, quality-driven burgers, and a growing reputation as one of Adelaide’s most talked-about burger spots.
Take one glance at the menu, and you’ll see why this spot’s gained traction. Impressive and generous comfort food creations, made to be devoured and to fill you to the brim. And, on the down low, to be admired as they arrive at your table, too.
Think smashed cheeseburgers, one dubbed ‘The Heart Stopper’, crispy chicken burgers, birria tacos, loaded fries, and plenty more.

“So it’s finally time to announce that I’m doing a second location,” Jaidan shared in the venue’s announcement. “You guys asked for something up north for such a long time, so we are opening in the Elizabeth Shopping Centre Food Court.”
The move marks a major next step for the business, which Jaidan started in late 2023.
“That store did really well with a little 20-seater,” Jaidan said. “So then we ended up moving that store to a bigger 110-seater store at Colonnades. That’s been going for a bit over a year now, and it’s been doing really well.”
While the existing Colonnades store operates more as a casual sit-down restaurant, the Elizabeth location will take on a slightly different format, with a smaller menu and a greater focus on speed.

“At the moment, my brand is Grandalfs Burgers & Tacos, so it’s a burger and taco brand,” Jaidan said. “For the next location, we’re going to be doing Grandalfs Express. So it’s going to be a little bit different. It’s going to be a smaller menu, and we’re just focussed on speed and quality.”
He said the food court location made sense for an express-style model, particularly with the demand already coming from customers in Adelaide’s north.
“For the entire time, we’ve had people coming from up in Gawler and Elizabeth,” Jaidan said. “People wanted us to come out that way for a long time. So now we’re actually going to do it.”
The expansion follows a strong run of recognition for the burger brand. Grandalfs took out second place in Glam Adelaide’s Adelaide’s top 9 burger joints for 2024, won Triple M’s Best of Adelaide for best burger bar in 2024, and was named winner of the 2025 Onkaparinga Business Awards in the Restaurants, Bakeries and Cafés – Larger Business category.

But for Jaidan, the appeal of Grandalfs is not just about the size or look of the burgers. He says the goal has always been to deliver restaurant-quality food in a setting that feels relaxed and unpretentious.
“I think quality of the ingredients is definitely something,” he said. “I’m trying to make restaurant-quality burgers, but not in a restaurant setting, if that makes sense. Somewhere more casual, where you could come in your trackies. Not somewhere where you’ve got to wear a suit and tie.”
“I’m just trying to create something where you come in, you have one meal, and you’re full.”
That casual, familiar approach has also shaped the way Jaidan wants Grandalfs to feel as a business. After years working in hospitality from the age of 16, including across pubs, cafes and restaurants, he said opening his own venue was always the goal.
“I’ve always wanted to open up a business or a restaurant, just do something in the business realm,” he said. “With chefing, you’ve sort of got two options. You go more the head chef route, which I’ve done before, or you go down the ownership route. I always wanted to become an owner.”
He originally planned to launch a food truck before finding the small store that became the first Grandalfs location.

Jaidan said the brand’s growth has felt surreal, especially given how quickly it has moved from one small shop to a second location.
“It’s kind of crazy, the path that we have been on so far and the path we are now going to be embarking on,” he said. “It baffles me how quickly this has all happened.”
The new Elizabeth Shopping Centre Food Court location is expected to open in the next two months, with more details to come closer to launch.
