Encompassing genres from feature-length documentaries to drama and comedy, the inaugural Adelaide Croatian Film Festival offers attendees a broad suite of films that are entertaining, provocative, and insightful.

Through the powerful medium of cinema, audiences can connect with Croatian culture in a stimulating and contemporary way. Directed by Dario Lonjak , this crazy Croatian “buddy” movie follows three losers trying to get to the 2018 World Cup soccer finals in Russia who get lost along the way.

A classic action-comedy, this film has drawn comparisons to movies like “The Four Lions” and “The Three Amigos”. Our Sunday program starts with a nod to the past in the feature film THE GOLDEN YEARS (Zlatne Godine) at 2 pm.

With its themes of lies and betrayal, director Davor Žmegač looks back at events during the “Croatian Spring” of 1971 through the eyes of two conflicted brothers.

At 5 pm there will be an encore screening of MURINA (The Moray Eel) to accommodate those cinephiles who may have missed its Opening Night debut. On Sunday night at 8 pm, the Festival closes with the Altmanesque drama THE STAFFROOM (Izbornica).
