If you’re looking for an event this winter that combines delicious, Adelaide Hills red wine with a bit of country twang, then we’ve found an event you won’t want to miss.
El Rancho is officially riding back into The Lane Vineyard this July. After a sold-out debut last year, the much-loved ranch-style winter takeover returns on Saturday, 25th and Sunday, 26th, once again transforming The Lane’s terrace into a cosy, ranch-style fire-lit escape overlooking an iconic rolling vineyard view.
Returning guests already know the drill, but if you missed it last year, there’s plenty of fun to get in on. “Our 2025 El Rancho event was a complete sell-out, and I think that came down to creating something that felt genuinely unique for the Adelaide Hills,” shared The Lane’s Emma Potter. “We brought classic country ranch vibes to our vineyard setting, paired with bold red wines, live music, crackling fires and a ranch-inspired menu.”
As for that menu, we’re talking crispy buffalo fried chicken, BBQ short ribs, whole roasted cauliflower, and truffle baked brie bubbling from the fire.
At the centre of it all is The Lane’s signature Shiraz, pouring all weekend alongside warm mulled wine. Every pre-booked ticket also comes with an official Winter Reds Riedel tasting glass and your first pour of Shiraz on arrival.
“The food is a huge part of the experience,” said Emma. “Pair that with a warming Shiraz or mulled wine and settle in for an afternoon of live music from The Happy Leonards and Billy Bob & The BBQ Boys. It’s relaxed, welcoming and all about embracing the best parts of winter.”
As part of Winter Reds, South Australia’s largest winter wine festival, El Rancho is joining more than 45 events taking place across the Adelaide Hills from July 24th to 26th. “Winter Reds is all about celebrating the Adelaide Hills cool-climate reds, and while wine is at the heart of the event, we’ve built an atmosphere that transports guests somewhere unexpected,” said Emma.
Emma says the rugged ranch-inspired theme works so well against the backdrop of rolling vineyards and winter landscapes. With a combination of fire-cooked flavours and live music, it creates an immersive experience that feels distinctly different. El Rancho gives people the chance to slow down, stay a while and experience Winter Reds in a fun and memorable way.
