He Said She Said is embarking on its biggest transformation since opening its Hyde Park café in 2018, with the family-run business gutting and rebuilding the original venue to better reflect the brand’s evolution.
Indoor dining has been closed for around eight weeks while builders carry out extensive works, however the venue has remained open for takeaways and outdoor dining.
The redevelopment follows the family’s expansion into Prospect in September last year, with owner Nasim Said telling Glam Adelaide that the Hyde Park store’s rebrand felt like a natural evolution.
“I thought it was only fair to match the brands,” he said.
“A local architecture studio Noma Design did all the design for us at Prospect, and she did a great job, so we got her in for us at Hyde Park.”
The refresh is not only cosmetic, Nasim said, with the café originally designed around a much smaller operation.
“As demand grew, we found the original kitchen and dining layout more limited.”
A new, larger kitchen will allow the team to expand beyond daily café service, creating more space for food preparation, new menu items and larger catering orders. The business has increasingly moved into catering for private functions and corporate events, an area Nasim believes has significant room to grow.
“The kitchen will also be bigger, and we’re planning to release a new menu soon,” Nasim said.
“We’ve literally changed everything all the way back down to the dirt, like the timbers and everything underneath the tiles,” Nasim said.
“It’s a full restructure.”
The shop front and branding will also be receiving a full refresh, with an announcement in the works.
“The main reason we wanted to do it is because we wanted to create a space that better reflects the experience that we have at Hyde Park,” Nasim said.
“We’ve been growing for so many years there, it’s almost been eight years, and we felt it was the right time to refresh the space.”
While the Prospect café represented the family’s first expansion, Nasim said the Hyde Park rebuild was about investing in the venue where the business began and preparing it for its next stage of growth. The works are expected to be completed in roughly eight weeks.
