After a decade serving Adelaide’s coffee commuters, First Things First is preparing to pull its final espresso shot as its remaining stores transition to Zarraffa’s Coffee.
The Queensland-founded drive-through coffee chain acquired First Things First in a multi-million-dollar deal announced in April last year and has now confirmed the closure and reopening schedule for the Adelaide-born brand’s four remaining locations.
The Salisbury Downs, Holden Hill, Enfield and Woodville Park stores will continue trading as normal before temporarily closing for full refurbishments, with all four expected to reopen under the Zarraffa’s name by November.
Zarraffa’s was founded in 1996 by Kenton and Rachel Campbell, with the name coming from the Arabic word ‘Zarafa’, which means ‘Giraffe’. What started as a roastery in Southport on the Gold Coast has expanded to a franchise with over 70 locations across Queensland, Western Australia, New South Wales, and South Australia.
Zarraffa’s says customers can expect to see familiar faces behind the counter when the stores reopen, alongside its full menu, loyalty program and café experience.

The national chain officially entered the Adelaide market in October last year, opening its first South Australian flagship at the former First Things First site in Munno Para.
“First Things First Coffee has built a loyal following in Adelaide and we recognise the strong connection customers have with their local stores, teams and daily coffee routines,” Zarraffa’s Coffee CEO Marnie Sheldon said.
“This is a planned and phased investment in the future of these locations, and customers can expect the full Zarraffa’s Coffee experience when each store reopens, including the friendly local service customers know, our signature freshly roasted specialty coffee, a broader food and drink menu, and access to Z Card loyalty membership benefits.”
Sheldon said existing staff relationships would remain a priority throughout the transition, while First Things First gift cards would continue to be honoured through an in-store exchange process.
“Our focus remains on respecting the connection customers have built with these stores, maintaining the local service and team relationships customers value, and keeping them informed as each location moves into its next chapter,” she said.
She added that South Australia remains “a key growth market” for Zarraffa’s Coffee, with the company continuing to explore opportunities for further expansion across the state.
The Salisbury Downs store will temporarily close on August 13, followed by Holden Hill on August 28, with both expected to reopen in October 2026. Enfield will close on September 11 and Woodville Park on September 25, with both reopening in November 2026.
