Four Adelaide students land dream jobs at Japanese ski resort

Four Adelaide beauty and spa therapy students are swapping summer for Japan’s snowy mountains after securing paid jobs at Mt Kiroro Ski Resort.

Four Adelaide beauty and spa therapy students are preparing to swap South Australia’s summer for Japan’s snowy mountains after landing international jobs at a popular ski resort.

The graduating students from Hyde Park College of Skin and Body Therapy have secured paid positions at the spa within Mt Kiroro Ski Resort in Hokkaido, Japan, where they’ll spend six weeks working during the peak winter season.

It’s an exciting start to their careers, with the four students heading overseas just days after celebrating their graduation in Adelaide.

The students will depart on December 6, following their graduation ceremony at The Playford Hotel on November 28 and the completion of their internationally recognised CIDESCO and CIBTAC examinations.

While many graduates spend their first few weeks searching for employment, these students will be gaining hands-on experience in an international resort, providing spa and wellness treatments to visitors from around the world.

The opportunity has been months in the making, with the students completing interviews, professional development and preparation to secure their positions.

Hyde Park College Principal Dianne Miles said the achievement reflects the dedication of the students and the skills they’ve developed throughout their training.

“These students have worked incredibly hard to reach this point. To move directly from graduation into paid international employment at one of Japan’s premier ski resorts is an outstanding achievement and a reflection of the high standards they have developed throughout their training.”

The opportunity has been made possible through the college’s partnership with international recruitment specialists Conceptasia, with Hyde Park College currently the only Australian beauty and spa education provider offering this specific pathway.

Based on Hutt Street in Adelaide, Hyde Park College has been training students for careers in the beauty, spa and wellness industries for more than 41 years.

Its internationally recognised qualifications are designed to help graduates pursue employment both in Australia and overseas.

For the four students, the experience will offer more than a chance to work abroad, providing an opportunity to build their professional skills, experience Japanese hospitality and begin their careers in an international setting.

And with their flights scheduled for December 6, they’ll be trading Adelaide’s summer heat for a white winter in Hokkaido.
