Popular One Sneaky Cheetah pizza chain, known for their Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas, is expanding with a new location in Campbelltown, opening this October. It’s the fourth restaurant for the pizzeria, joining its three other successful spots in Ridleyton, Melrose Park, and Stepney. The expansion continues the success of the team behind McLaren Vale’s cult favourite, Pizzateca.
General Manager Mark McInerney explains the choice of Campbelltown for the new location, in that the area is “steeped in tradition”. “It also has a strong Italian heritage there as well, and is a part of Adelaide that is thriving,” Mark says.
“It’s a natural progression from where we are in Stepney, which is effectively our flagship store.”
The expansion has a personal connection as well; Co-owner Tony Mitolo’s family previously ran a pizza bar in the area years ago.
The new Campbelltown location will feature a slightly smaller setup compared to its sibling restaurants, with a unique twist on how the pizzas are prepared. The wood-fired pizzas will be twice-cooked using a conveyor oven method, which will reduce the “flop” that you might get when you’re holding a Neapolitan-style pizza. The team has been testing this method over the past six months:
“We’re really excited. It’s something that is trendy a bit overseas, but there is not as many (if any) doing it in Adelaide,” Mark says.
Excitingly, the new restaurant will include an outdoor alfresco dining area; a feature that evovled from the original plan of a smaller, hole-in-the-wall venue. This outdoor space will accommodate up to 48 people, providing a perfect spot for diners to enjoy their meals as we head into the warmer months.
The interior will maintain the signature One Sneaky Cheetah look, with familiar colours and its iconic wood paneling. The Campbelltown restaurant will incorporate some popular features from the Stepney venue, including booth seating and the addition of a fun arcade game, for both kids and adults.
Known for its hand-stretched, wood-fired pizzas, with a mix of traditional Aussie toppings, One Sneaky Cheetah offers a range of fan-favourites including a classic Margherita, Ham & Pineapple, Salami, Vego, Meatlovers, and Smoky BBQ Chicken. Mark McInerney has also hinted at future plans, revealing that the team is working towards opening a fifth location in Modbury North soon:
“We want to get what we believe is fantastic pizza into as many people’s hands as possible,” Mark says.
