Thousands of families in Adelaide’s north now have a new place to shop, eat, exercise and access everyday services, with The Palms Shopping Village officially opening in Riverlea.
The first stage of the $100 million shopping centre is now open, marking a pretty big milestone for what’s said to be one of South Australia’s fastest-growing new communities.
Anchored by a full-line Coles Supermarket and Liquorland, the centre is already home to Anytime Fitness, Amitra & Co Hair Services, Jennifer Carly Aesthetic Medicine, St Georges Bakehouse and Nou Nails.
Set to open in the coming weeks are Priceline Pharmacy, Local Crowd Coffee and Kingsmen Hair.
Located on the corner of Central Drive and Riverlea Boulevard, The Palms Shopping Village will deliver more than 10,000 square metres of retail and commercial space once complete, with more than 25 specialty stores, an alfresco dining precinct and plenty of parking with more than 530 spots.
Walker Corporation Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer David Gallant said the opening was an important step in supporting Riverlea’s growing population.
“The Palms Shopping Village opening is a major milestone for Riverlea, unlocking everyday convenience for residents while supporting local jobs and economic growth across Adelaide’s northern suburbs.”
“Residents can do their weekly grocery shop, grab a coffee, visit the pharmacy or access other everyday services without leaving Riverlea, giving people more time back in their day to spend with family and friends,” he said.

The shopping village is expected to create more than 120 retail and service jobs, with more than 1,500 workers contributing to its delivery.
The broader Riverlea master planned community, plans to deliver thousands of homes, schools, parks, sporting facilities, retail and employment opportunities.
For locals, the opening means everyday essentials are now much closer to home.
Riverlea resident Emily Kempster said the centre’s arrival was an exciting milestone for families already living in the community.
“When we moved to Riverlea, we could see the vision for what the community would become and it is very cool to see it all coming to life,” Emily said.
“Having more places to meet friends, spend time with family and connect with neighbours will make a real difference for everyone living here.”
“You can feel the momentum across Riverlea at the moment, and it’s so exciting to think about what the community will look like in a few months when the school and sportsground open,” she said.

Stage two outdoor plaza
The final stage of The Palms Shopping Village is also on the way, with Walker now delivering the outdoor dining precinct and community plaza, which is expected to open later this year in time for summer. The final stage will also include Paisley Park Early Learning Centre, a medical centre with pathology services and additional dining options.
To celebrate the first stage opening, Walker will host community celebrations this Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June, inviting residents and visitors to explore Adelaide’s newest shopping destination.
The weekend will feature giveaways, instant prizes and exclusive rewards for members of The Palms App, with activities running from 11am to 2pm each day next to St Georges Bakehouse.
