Hidden down a tree-lined driveway in the heart of McLaren Vale, a collection of five luxury holiday houses has become a favourite for wedding weekends, milestone birthdays and getaways with friends.
Now, hundreds of glowing guest reviews have helped put this family-owned accommodation on the national stage.
Vale 194 has earned a place on the 2026 Star Ratings Australia Gold List in the National Self Catering category, recognising its consistently outstanding guest ratings.
And what makes this achievement particularly special is that it’s not decided by a panel of judges, with owner Jodie Sheldrick saying the news was a lovely surprise.

Just off McLaren Vale’s Main Road, Vale 194 offers five beautifully appointed, self-contained holiday houses, each with three king bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and its own private outdoor dining area.
It’s the kind of setup that makes organising a group getaway that little bit easier, with room for up to 30 guests across the five houses, everyone can stay close together while still enjoying their own privacy.

Since opening in May 2023, Vale 194 has received hundreds of reviews across Booking.com, Airbnb, Google and Tripadvisor, consistently earning impressive ratings. Its Booking.com Traveller Review Awards tell a similar story, with scores of 9.8 in 2024, 9.9 in 2025 and 9.8 in 2026.
The latest national recognition adds to an impressive collection of achievements, including Silver at the 2025 South Australian Tourism Awards in the Self-Contained Accommodation category and an independent 4.5-star Self Catering rating.
But for Jodie, who was born and raised in McLaren Vale, welcoming guests is also about sharing the region she’s watched grow into one of South Australia’s favourite food and wine destinations.
