Run by the SA Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects and sponsored by Adelaide City Council, the Prize is a category in the prestigious South Australian Architecture Awards, to be announced on 2 July.

Best of all, voting for the People’s Choice category of the City of Adelaide Prize is now open, so you can help shape who comes out on top!

Lord Mayor Martin Haese said the Council has a long association with the Prize, which this year attracted some innovative projects that showcase some of Adelaide’s best architecture.

“Each year I am impressed by the calibre of design and construction in Adelaide and the huge amount of innovation and creativity on offer in our city. There are some exciting initiatives happening at the moment, both big and small, throughout the City of Adelaide,” he said.

“I congratulate all nominees and encourage each member of the community to vote for their favourite project before the ballots close on 15 April.”

The Prize promotes design outcomes that celebrate positive experiences and enhances and activates places within the City of Adelaide.

It recognises innovative built projects that bring the streets and spaces of Adelaide city alive, engage with the community and make it a great place to live, work and have fun.

Last year’s City of Adelaide joint prize winners were Adelaide Oval Redevelopment and the Riverbank Bridge, while the People’s Choice Award went to Princess Elizabeth Play Space located in the south west of the city on South Terrace.

Online voting for the People’s Choice Awards is open from 31 March 15 April.
