The Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) has announced the winners of its 2025 Chef Hat Awards, showcasing South Australia’s top restaurants. Since 1982, AGFG has awarded Chef Hats to outstanding chefs across Australia, with inspectors dining anonymously to choose the winners.
From 12 to 19 Hats, the awards recognise the top 1% of restaurants in the country. Here’s what each Chef Hat level means:
- 19 to 18 Hats: Exceptional food and wine, internationally renowned – Worth a special trip
- 17 to 16 Hats: Outstanding quality – Worth a detour
- 15 to 14 Hats: Excellent food – Worth a stop on the way
- 13 to 12 Hats: Great restaurants in their category – Commended
