Fans of The Weeknd have been left devastated after the Canadian singer officially cancelled the Australia and New Zealand leg of his After Hours Til Dawn tour.
The Australian shows were initially postponed in November last year due to unforeseen circumstances, weeks before he was set to take stage, and fans have been patiently waiting for the performances to be rescheduled.
The Weeknd was set to perform at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, Sydney’s Accor Stadium, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and Auckland’s Eden Park, with additional dates planned.
However, after months of confusion, all scheduled dates have now been cancelled, and Ticketek is advising fans to register for a waitlist in the event the dates are rescheduled in the future.
“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled. Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund,” Ticketek said in a statement on their website.
“Ticket Holders of the shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced.
“In order to gain access to the priority pre-sale, please make sure you opt in and join the waitlist here.
“Tickets will be automatically refunded in full (including refundable ticket purchases, if applicable) to the original payment method used for purchase and patrons do not need to take any action.
“Patrons should allow approximately 30 business days for the refund to appear in their account.”
Australian fans await some kind of explanation, as there has been no word from the Weeknd or official statements released providing the reasons for the subsequent cancellation.
