Adelaide’s food scene continues to impress as two of our faves are named amongst the hottest to have come out of 2015. Good Food have named their pick for Australia’s Hottest New Restaurants 2015 and you won’t be surprised when you see who made the list from Adelaide…
The most stunning views over our city, amazing drinks and superb food to match. We must be talking about the absolute babe that is 2KW Bar and Restauant. Its menu reads something like pure perfection, with the ideal balance between lighter meals, such as Hervey Bay Scallops with saffron and dried lime butter, brioche crumbs, smoked beef, to something a bit heavier, such as Herb and Lemon Roasted Spatchcock served with Spanish ragu and rouille. But we can never go past their charcuterie or cheese plates.
Next up… Its opening was highly anticipated. It had us on the edge of our seats and with stretchy pants at the ready! We were spoiled when we got to go in there for an exclusive first look/taste and we were not disappointed. A fit out like no other in Adelaide and food that will transport you to Italy, we can only be talking about Osteria Oggi.
It was hard to see this place being anything but a success considering the man behind the restaurant also owns The Pot, Press*, Melt, Bread & Bone, Maybe Mae and Proof. When we spoke to Simon back in September (see story here) he gave us the low down on what we could expect. And when we got to try, well oh my… From the Squid Ink Gnochetti with squaid, saffron and crusacean cream to the most amazing Spaghetti Carbonara served with salato, smoked egg and pecorino, the food was to die for.
Congratulations to the teams at both 2KW and Osteria Oggi. We always knew you were hot and now the whole of Australia does too!
