Barossa Valley Brewing, based in Tanunda has taken out an impressive 6 medals and 3 Trophies at the recent Royal Adelaide Beer Awards with 5 of their locally brewed beers.

The craft brewer’s Canis Majoris, an Imperial Indian Pale Ale won the coveted Most Outstanding Beer in Show, as well as, Champion South Australian Exhibit. The same beer also took out Champion Indian Pale Ale.

Founder Denham D’Silva says the awards are a wonderful acknowledgement for a lot of hard work done by the brewing team.

It is also comforting to know the commitment to experimenting with interesting ingredients and styles outside the norm has resulted in beers that are being enjoyed around SA.

Brewer James Collison has worked hard with Brewing Director Neal Cameron to reach the highest levels of quality.

James is naturally pleased with the accolades, but is more pleased that across the range, every beer took out a medal or trophy.

The panel of judges are comprised of 16 industry leaders from around Australia with experts from major breweries such as Coopers and Lion Nathan.

It is for this reason James says “ The feedback from experts and peers I respect is probably the greatest source of pride”.

Denham says that the focus for the Barossa Valley Brewing is it’s home state of SA and for this reason the major award of Champion SA Exhibit and Most Outstanding Beer for SA is particularly exciting.

Bottles similarly can be found at quality venues such as The Highway, Edinburgh Cellars, Goodwood Cellars, Melbourne Street Fine Wines and Belair Fine Wines with more to come. www.bvbeer.com.au will soon have a complete list of suppliers.
