Adelaide burger favourite Gang Gang is opening the doors to its new flagship city venue this weekend, transforming part of a former mechanic’s workshop beside Market Shed into an industrial-style diner, food-truck hub and function space.
Co-owners, Morgan and Nina said Gang Gang on Holland will soft launch this weekend before officially opening six days a week from next Thursday.
Located just off Gilbert Street at 1 Holland Street, the new venue brings Gang Gang’s festival favourite food truck burgers to a ‘flagship’ CBD space.
“This venue feels full circle and 100 percent us,” co-owner Morgan said.
“It almost feels like we’re opening Parkside again. It has that same excitement, but this time we have a much clearer vision.”
The new burger spot has taken over a small section of Market Shed’s warehouse, which was once used as a mechanic’s workshop.
Gang Gang has kept the exposed brickwork, old hanging systems and garage-style roller door while adding elements inspired by an American diner.
“We were looking for a space where we could have both a storefront and a preparation kitchen.”
“We’ve got everything under one roof, which feels really nice.”
The venue will serve the well-known burgers found at Gang Gang’s food trucks and Eden Hills store, including the Cardi B, Come Back and Telly Liv.
Customers will also be able to turn any burger into a salad or wrap, while a new build-your-own section allows them to choose each component themselves.
“It’s not just for people who are looking to save some money and choose exactly what they want,” Morgan said. “It also works well for picky eaters.”
In a win for alternative milk drinkers, Gang Gang on Holland is having no extra charge on coffee orders.
“We have combo deals where you can add $7 and get a side of fries and a soft drink,” Morgan said.
“In the mornings, if you’re ordering an English muffin, you can add a hash brown and coffee for an extra $7.”
Sounds like a great morning feed to us.
The city location gives customers the option to dine inside the venue or pick up their order and head across to the South Terrace parklands for a burger picnic.
There is parking available throughout the surrounding area, while free Wi-Fi will allow customers to work from the venue or takeaway during work breaks.
“We’ll be dog-friendly outside, and we’ll be doing some breakfast radio activities,” Nina said.
“We’ve got speakers and sound equipment, so we’ll be able to host different events.”
Speaking of, the duo mentioned that the space will be available for function hire in the coming months, with a full website and function page under construction.
If the cult burger flavours are anything to go by, then come Saturday lines will mimic the food trucks at festivals for Gang Gang’s soft opening.
