For pepperoni pizza lovers, how many pieces can you pile onto a pizza without going overboard According to Reggie’s Detroit Pizza, the answer is 77.
The Goodwood pizza favourite has launched its biggest pepperoni creation yet, loading a thick, square Detroit-style base with 77 pieces of pepperoni, a pepperoni-covered crust and a tub of house-made ranch sauce for dunking.
I was on a mission to try the creation of pepperoni lovers’ dreams, and it did not disappoint.
Named the Pepperonus Maximus, the new signature pizza takes Reggie’s best-selling pepperoni square to new heights, promising a fully loaded bite from its crisp, cheesy centre right through to the pepperoni-lined edges.
It also arrives with ranch on the side, and was rude not to dunk each square slice into the creamy sauce for the full effect.
As owner Paolo Brustolon puts it, there are “no more boring crusts” at Reggie’s.

The Pepperonus Maximus is one of several new additions landing at the Goodwood Road venue, alongside the return of two popular specials, Buffalo Chicken and Lamb, premium Gelato Bello gelato, thickshakes and an enormous five-scoop Atomic Sundae that can’t be tackled alone.
While the Pepperonus Maximus is deliberately excessive, the foundation beneath is taken seriously, and is consistent across all pizza flavours.
The promise at Reggie’s is simple. A square pan pizza with a crisp base, cheesy top and soft, airy centre, all built on a focaccia-style dough. The red-and white checked menu feature simple classics and combinations that go all-in on heat, cheese and toppings.
For an appetizer, the Baby Reggie keeps things uncomplicated with red sauce and cheese, while moving onto the main show, the vegetarian Green Mile pizza adds kale and spinach, olives, red onion and chilli flakes.
Those looking for something bolder should take on the Bad Hombre, a “spicy spicy” square loaded with gorgonzola, nduja sausage, salami, chilli flakes and hot honey. It’s got a kick without being overpowering and the hot honey complements the flavours in all the right ways.

The newest addition to the dessert game, is the Atomic Sundae. Living up to its name, the sweet treat, arrives piled with reeses pieces, pretzels, popcorn, whipped cream, caramel and chocolate sauces with enough ice cream to make taking on the task alone an ambitious one.
Delivered to the table with two spoons and a waitress that knew I was in for a battle, it was one to happily dive right into.
Paolo said he encourages diners to bring a date, a group of friends or anyone willing to help finish it.
The smooth chocolate gelato beckons spoonful after spoonful, it’s hard to resist and almost impossible to stop but between the thick pizza and delicious dessert, coming out with an empty bowl is a victory worth celebrating.

While Reggie’s may have the food handled, its partnership with The Suburban Brew turns the visit into a complete night out.
The two venues share a wall and are connected by a doorway, allowing diners to order their pizza from Reggie’s before settling into the taproom with a locally brewed beer. Likewise, those visiting The Suburban Brew can easily add a tray of pizza to the table.
The relaxed space brings together Reggie’s retro Italian-American energy, good tunes and The Suburban Brew’s laid-back neighbourhood atmosphere, making it an easy option for casual dinners, drinks with friends and group celebrations.
Reggies’ was inspired by Paolo’s father’s focaccia-style dough and with Adelaide already home to plenty of wood-fired venues, he chose to offer something different by focusing on Detroit-style pan pizza.
Paolo and the team are certainly sure making it hard to go back to round pizza and one-scoop sundaes.
