The Rosemont Hotel on Hindley Street has a legacy that spans over a century, and this Sunday it will reopen under new management and a new philosophy.
The venue, formerly known as The Rosey, will welcome patrons back on August 2, reviving a hotel site and returning a well-known corner venue to Adelaide’s West End.
The venue has undergone a massive redevelopment in an aim to deliver a fresh new hospitality experience while keeping in mind the character and legacy that made the Rosemont an Adelaide institution.
The redeveloped hotel will offer classic pub dining, a sports bar showing live matches, upgraded gaming facilities, live entertainment and a calendar of events designed to bring activity to the venue throughout the week.
Owner and licensee, Glenn O’Rourke, said the mission was to restore one of Adelaide’s great hospitality icons.
“Rosemont Hotel isn’t just another pub, it’s part of Adelaide’s history,” Glenn said.
“This hotel has created memories for generations, and we feel incredibly privileged to be entrusted with bringing it back to life.”
Throughout its long history, the venue has traded under several names, including the City Bridge Hotel, Overway Hotel, Century Hotel and Nixon’s Hotel, before becoming the Rosemont Hotel in 1999.
“Our vision has always been to respect its heritage while creating a venue that will once again become one of Adelaide’s premier hospitality destinations.”
The venture is also another way to build more life and security in the future of the West End.
“We’ve invested heavily because we believe Hindley Street continues to evolve, and the Rosemont deserves to be right at the centre of that transformation,” Glenn said.
“We want people to walk through the doors and instantly recognise the venue they remember, but with a fresh new energy that delivers an outstanding experience for today’s customers.”
First established almost 180 years ago, the Rosemont has experienced generations of change across Hindley Street and Adelaide’s nightlife.
Over the years, it became a popular meeting place for city workers, sports fans, live-music lovers, locals and visitors, earning a reputation as one of Adelaide’s best-known hotels.
Venue Manager, James Quire, said the team behind the hotel are already committed to creating a warm welcome back.
“Whether you’re joining us for lunch, after-work drinks, live sport, dinner with friends or a late-night celebration, we’ve created a venue that offers something for everyone.
“Our focus is simple, great food, exceptional service, quality entertainment and genuine hospitality.”
James said reopening the Rosemont was also about reconnecting the hotel with the Adelaide community.
“Rosemont Hotel has always been a place where people come together,” James said.
“We’re incredibly excited to welcome back familiar faces while introducing a whole new generation to this iconic venue.”
The Rosemont will celebrate its reopening with happy hour prices throughout the day, special food offers and the first opportunity for patrons to explore the newly redeveloped venue.
