Third-generation hairdresser Claudia Nicole is preparing to open the doors to a new boutique salon in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, bringing lived-in blondes, personalised service and a carefully curated sense of calm to Dulwich.
Studio Bobbi is set to debut this August at 37B Dulwich Avenue, transforming a quiet corner of the suburb into what she describes as an earthy-luxury retreat where clients can slow down, unwind and leave feeling their best.
For Claudia, opening her own salon has been years in the making. “Opening my own space has been a dream since I was a little girl,” she shared. “I wanted to create somewhere clients feel truly welcome, a quiet luxury environment where people leave feeling more beautiful and confident in themselves. That vision never went away, it just took time to find the right moment to make it real.”
As a third-generation hairdresser, Claudia has spent almost nine years refining her craft, building a reputation for natural-looking blondes, balayage and effortlessly lived-in colour. But before taking the leap into salon ownership, she wanted to make sure she was ready.
In early 2025, Claudia stepped into freelancing, using the experience to build a better understanding of what running a business entails while continuing to build her loyal client base. That journey was shaped through her time working from Etcher Salon, where she says she was inspired daily by the team and the beautifully designed environment around her.
“I have been lucky enough to work out of the beautifully designed space at Etcher Salon, where I was inspired every single day by the team around me and learned so much about business, hair and client experience. That foundation gave me the confidence to take the next step and open Studio Bobbi.”
At Studio Bobbi clients can expect a space filled with experience and built around consistency and connection. Unlike larger salons where clients may see multiple staff members throughout an appointment, Studio Bobbi takes a more personal approach.
“Every stylist here, including myself, takes a personal approach to their clients. No handoffs, no starting from scratch at every appointment. You’ll always see the same person who knows your hair, your history, and where you’re headed from start to finish. That continuity is something I feel really strongly about, and it’s woven into the space of the salon.”
While the salon will offer a full range of services, colour is where Claudia’s passion truly shines. “I offer a full range of services, but colour is where my heart is. Lived-in colour and blondes are my signature. Hair that looks beautiful the day you leave and still looks good months down the track. Low maintenance, high impact. That’s always the goal.”
The salon has been thoughtfully designed to reflect that same philosophy. Inspired by mid-century modern design, Studio Bobbi features limewashed walls, rich brown leather furnishings, greenery and carefully considered details that create a timeless and welcoming atmosphere. Even the scent has been chosen with intention, featuring an Aesop essential oil blend designed to instantly put clients at ease.
And as for the location, Claudia says Dulwich was the perfect fit. “Dulwich is a hidden gem. It’s central and easy to get to, but the moment you walk through the streets, it has this beautiful, quiet energy that not many areas in Adelaide have. That calm is exactly what I wanted to replicate inside the salon, it just felt right.”
Ultimately, for Claudia, Studio Bobbi is about more than great hair.
“I want people to feel completely at ease from the moment they arrive. Comfortable, relaxed, unhurried. And I want them to walk out feeling more confident than when they walked in. Making people feel good is genuinely what makes me happy, that’s always been the reason I do this.”
