This weekend, Adelaide’s east is welcoming a premium recovery and wellness destination, bringing locals a new purpose-built space to recover and recharge.

Designed entirely around helping people perform at their best, in sport and in day-to-day life, Rebuild Recovery was born from the personal experiences of its three founders, Matthew Weistra, Jordan Tippins and Lachlan Jarvis, in sport and training. They set out to create a dedicated space where recovery is encouraged to be an essential part of an active lifestyle rather than just an afterthought.

Located in Norwood, the new facility is more than 500 square metres and has been created to support guided recovery experiences. Inside, there are four plunge pools, infrared sauna rooms, a compression therapy area and a raised deck space designed for guided hot-and-cold recovery sessions.

The space was designed by local architect Angus Pearce-Raisin and constructed by Trent Lowry from Ugly Duckling Renovations. In addition to the recovery areas, the facility is also home to full change room amenities with lockers, a reception and retail space, and staff-led programs to guide members through their recovery sessions.

“All three of us live active lifestyles and are closely connected to the fitness community, and through training and being around sport, we saw recovery was often treated as an afterthought,” shared co-founder and managing director Jordan Tippins. “It was apparent to us that it was something people had to piece together on their own, and it could be overwhelming if you don’t have the proper support and guidance. We wanted to create a space that was purpose-built and focused entirely on recovery that people can visit and trust that they are getting the best possible care and outcomes.”

Rebuild Recovery doesn’t position itself as a gym or day spa. Instead, the centre uses evidence-backed recovery methods like sauna, cold immersion and compression therapy. Co-founder Matthew Weistra said, “Sauna, cold immersion and compression aren’t trends, they’re evidence-backed recovery methods. However, access and consistency are often the missing pieces. Our focus was on creating a considered space where those methods sit under one roof, delivered in a way that encourages routine rather than one-off use.”

The centre is designed to cater to everyone, including athletes, gym members, runners, cyclists and sporting teams, as well as professionals and individuals who want to prioritise recovery as part of their broader wellbeing routine.

Located at 25 Sydenham Road in Norwood, the founders say the east’s strong fitness culture and proximity to the CBD made it the ideal location for the first site. “Norwood is one of Adelaide’s most active and established lifestyle precincts,” added Matthew. “Its proximity to the CBD and surrounding fitness communities made it the perfect location for us to open our first recovery centre. We can’t wait to welcome the local community, whether that’s athletes, gym-goers, runners, sporting clubs and everyone in between looking to prioritise recovery.”

Plans are already in the works to widen the offering, with the team looking to introduce additional wellness services in the future, including IV drips, red light bed therapy and a hyperbaric chamber. The additions will further the concept of creating a space where people can access a range of recovery and treatment services in one location.

To celebrate the opening, the centre is offering a limited number of foundational memberships, giving members unlimited access to the recovery suite for $50 per week with a minimum 12-week commitment.

Rebuild Recovery officially opens on Saturday, March 14th.
