FIRST LOOK: Santi’s is Henley Beach’s new brunch spot, serving up Roman-inspired pizza by the slice

The new café draws its culinary inspiration from the famed Gabriele Bonci, a Roman pizza maestro renowned for revolutionising pizza al taglio

Santi’s is the latest trendy brunch destination at Henley Beach, officially opening its doors on Wednesday October 16th right on Seaview Road. The new cafe is serving up coffee and pizza by the slice, inspired by the legendary Gabriele Bonci – a Roman pizza maestro who revolutionised pizza al taglio with his signature slow-fermented dough and gourmet toppings. Santi’s is truly going to be “a slice of Roman brilliance”.

At the heart of Santi’s menu is a 24-hour fermented wholemeal sourdough, expertly crafted by Christian – Santi’s Northern Italian chef behind the magic. With over a decade of pizza-making experience, Christian started with traditional thin-crust pizzas in his hometown, but soon discovered a true passion for pizza al taglio. Now, he’s bringing his expertise to Henley Beach.

The duo behind Santi’s are no newbies to the hospitality world, also owning popular Brighton spots Alimentary Eatery and The Alchemist’s Kitchen.

The menu at Santi’s will be changing weekly to showcase the freshest seasonal produce. Among the tasty offerings, you’ll find ‘The Staple’, a delicious combo of smoked ham, cheese, and mushrooms on a rich tomato base. Then there’s the ‘Veggie Patch’, a colourful mix of zucchini, eggplant, artichokes, mushrooms, and fresh basil.

For a savoury kick, try ‘The Betta Porchetta’, featuring succulent slow-roasted pork paired with a zesty fennel and jalapeño salad. And for brunch lovers, ‘A Slice of Breakfast’ is loaded with a fried egg, bacon, avocado, and chopped tomatoes.

Located on Henley Beach’s busy and bustling Seaview Road, Santi’s is in the perfect spot to attract both locals and tourists. With the warmer weather on the way, we’re expecting them to pull some pretty big crowds. The cafe seats 20 indoors, with an intimate courtyard for 10 more and a lovely outdoor area for an additional 15 guests.

It’s an ideal spot for slow beachside mornings or casual post-swim snacks. Santi’s will also offer takeaway slices from its cafe window, so you can grab a slice and take it straight down to the beach.

With its relaxed vibe and vibrant food culture, Santi’s is going to bring a unique, laid-back dining experience to Henley Beach that feels both familiar and fresh. The cafe is also working on an à la carte menu, so that it will not only be a go-to spot for Roman-inspired pizza, but also cozy seaside brunches too.

Santi’s will officially be open to the public from Wednesday October 16th through Sunday, serving coffee from 7am and breakfast and brunch from 10:30am. Check it out!
