“This isn’t Derrimut.”
That was the reaction from some gym-goers as they stepped inside the brand-new, mammoth Derrimut 24:7 Elizabeth, following the company’s rebrand and redefinition of what their gyms could look and feel like.
Beyond the entrance, the sheer scale quickly reveals itself, with a sprawling gym floor, massive dedicated women’s training space, reformer Pilates, group fitness studios and an extensive wellness and recovery hub all sitting under the one roof.
According to Fitness Performance Manager Ashlee Cooper, opening day gave the team its first real indication of how people felt about the finished space.
“It was packed … the turnout was amazing, we had a humungous line out the front,” Ashlee said.

Once inside, she said many people were surprised by just how far the gym stretches beyond its entrance, with members commenting that they had never seen a fitness space quite like it.
That was exactly the point.
Despite the enormous turnout, Ashlee says the sheer size of the gym means it can still feel comfortable once members spread across the different areas, rather than everyone competing for the same equipment.
The curated women’s gym and group fitness spaces have quickly become standout favourites, while reformer Pilates has drawn exactly the kind of strong response Ashlee and the team were hoping for.
And while opening day went smoothly, the level of interest in the wellness and recovery facilities took Ashlee by surprise. But it is the recovery offering that has attracted even more attention than expected.

Members have loved moving from their workout into facilities including massage chairs, red light therapy beds, infrared and traditional saunas, cryotherapy and cold plunge facilities. The extensive options give members the option to build recovery into their routine rather than treating it as something separate.
Having an array of different options in one place is a major part of what sets the Elizabeth site apart. One member might arrive for a traditional strength session, while another heads straight to reformer Pilates, hot mat classes or the wellness area. The result is a space designed not only for different fitness levels, but for the many different ways people now want to train, recover and look after themselves.
Infrared panels have also recently arrived for the hot Pilates studio, adding another dimension to the gym’s growing group fitness offering.

Ashlee said seeing the Elizabeth community beginning to take shape has been one of the most rewarding parts of finally opening the doors.
“It’s gratification for all the hard work we’ve done … this is what we wanted to create.”
After the work involved in bringing such an ambitious project together, Ashlee is particularly proud of the team behind it and what they were able to create by working towards one vision. Despite spanning 9,500 square metres, the team has worked to ensure the enormous space still feels connected and welcoming.
The Elizabeth location signals a new direction for Derrimut 24:7, and Ashlee says the response so far suggests members are already seeing the brand differently.
So whether you’re planning an intense gym session, a quick reformer class before work or just want to chill at the nutrition bar with a protein smoothie, there is a brand new place that is providing all that and more.
