FIRST LOOK: UR Pizzeria fires up North Adelaide’s Italian dining scene

A new Italian restaurant, UR Pizzeria, has opened its doors in North Adelaide next to sister venue UR Caffe.

A new Italian restaurant, UR Pizzeria, has recently opened its doors in North Adelaide. This establishment serves as a sister venue to the already well-established UR Caffe on Melbourne Street.

Located adjacent to its sister cafe, UR (pronounced Your) Pizzeria is bringing authentic pasta and woodfired pizzas to the neighbourhood.

UR Caffe, affectionately pronounced as “Your Caffe,” has been a fixture on Melbourne Street since its inception in August 2011, offering an array of breakfast and all-day brunch options crafted from fresh, locally sourced produce.

Building on this success, the team behind UR Caffe has ventured into Italian cuisine with the opening of UR Pizzeria, responding to the clamour of their loyal clientele for dinner options.

“We noticed that 80% of our customers who loved coming to us for breakfast and lunch wanted dinner options as well, so we seized the opportunity to expand our offerings,” Owner Sunny says. “UR Pizzeria complements the Asian-inspired fusion fare of UR Caffe with its authentic woodfired pizzas.”

Stepping into UR Pizzeria, you’re greeted by a rustic wooden interior which gives off a commercial fine-dining vibe. The decor, comprising handcrafted wooden furniture fashioned from reclaimed palettes and woods originally present in the venue, give it a sense of warmth and authenticity.

Illuminated by soft down lighting, the space invites diners to enjoy the authentic Italian style cuisine. The venue prides itself on its commitment to quality, employing a 48-hour fermentation technique for its dough, resulting in a distinctive crunchy crust that sets its pizzas apart.

“Our pizzas undergo a meticulous process, fermenting over 48 hours to achieve the perfect texture—crispy, not chewy,” Sunny says.

Among UR Pizzeria’s signature offerings, the Italian calzone stands out, boasting a sumptuous filling of house-made bolognese sauce and a crust that delights the palate. Additionally, the prosciutto crust pizza garners acclaim for its fusion of flavours, showcasing the exquisite pairing of prosciutto di Parma with creamy burrata and rocket.

“We’re using locally sourced produce our food and we’ve curated a wine list from local South Australian producers,” Sunny says.

The menu at UR Pizzeria features an enticing selection of antipasti, pizzas, pastas, and chef’s specials. Highlights include the Arancini, Garlic Bread, and an array of pizza options ranging from classic Margherita to innovative creations like the Roman Roots and Affluent Sea.

Nestled in North Adelaide, UR Pizzeria is strategically situated among a range of dining establishments within close proximity. Notably absent among these options are other woodfired pizza joints along the strip, making UR Pizzeria’s arrival exciting for locals.

Since its opening just a few weeks ago, UR Pizzeria has generated considerable buzz within the community, attracting regular patrons eager to sample its woodfired delights.

“Just two weeks in, we’re thrilled to see our loyal customers embracing our new venture,” Sunny says. “The neighbourhood has embraced the concept of woodfired pizza.”
