Press* Food & Wine is ushering in a new era this week, with Joshua Lansley joining the team as Head Chef.

Lansley joins press* from another of Simon Kardachi’s establishments, Osteria Oggi, where he has worked for the last 18 months. Lansley is a French-trained Brit who moved to Australia five years ago, chasing good weather. Much of his career has been spent in London and Staffordshire, including a stint early in his career at Michelin-star restaurant Launceston Place (‘Princess Diana’s favourite restaurant’, located in South Kensington).

Lansley will work under the guidance of Andrew Davies who will continue to act as Executive Chef.

Lansley says the opportunity to join Press* was something he couldn’t turn down.

“For a young restaurant, Press* is an institution in Adelaide, and is renowned for delivering the kind of food I love.”

“The philosophy of Press* is very much in line with the way I like to cook. The wood grill is the beating heart of the kitchen, and a focus on the excellent produce of the food bowl of South Australia is important to me. I like to work closely with suppliers, and South Australia is the kind of place that really enables these great relationships”.

Press* is now in its sixth year of operation and continues to make its name as one of the premier restaurants in Adelaide’s CBD. Kardachi will open three new establishments in 2017 (Shōbōshō on Leigh Street, Melt Henley, and a fish and chipper on beachfront level at Henley Beach), but still has a firm focus on ensuring his established venues are hitting the mark with customers.

“Of course it’s exciting to be opening new venues – but the hospitality landscape is continually changing and my existing restaurants also have to evolve accordingly. Every day we assess how we are performing, how we are delivering and meeting the customer’s needs. The food offering at press* will only be made stronger under the leadership of Josh and it’s exciting for the whole team to have him on board.”

Press* is open all day from 11.30am, six days a week, and will continue to offer a menu and environment that encourages conversation and sharing. With communal seating downstairs, and a more formal environment upstairs, the venue is becoming increasingly popular for unique events such as intimate weddings.

Press* received an honourable mention in The Weekend Australian’s Hot 50 Restaurant list last year, having won ‘hottest in SA’, in its first year of operation and inclusion in subsequent years’ listings.

Press* food & wine is located at 40 Waymouth Street, Adelaide (8211 8048) and is open from 11.30am-late, Mon-Saturday.
