Selling South Australia’s Premium Food

Buyers from hotels, supermarkets and gourmet food distributors will taste some of South Australia’s best premium foods today, as the State puts its stunning array of culinary products on show.

Buyers from hotels, supermarkets and gourmet food distributors will taste some of South Australia’s best premium foods today, as the State puts its stunning array of culinary products on show.

Think Food, the South Australian food industry’s only local trade show, brings together local food producers with key buyers from around the State and interstate.

Minister for Food Marketing John Rau said Think Food will help local companies to grow sales in new and existing markets.
“Think Food connects our producers directly with buyers who can taste local foods and build relationships with the people behind our wonderful premium products,” he said.

Nearly 40 local food companies are taking part in the trade-only event at the Ridley Centre at the Adelaide Showground from 12 noon to 5pm today. Products on show include artisan cheeses, gelato and ice-cream, smoked smallgoods, ready-made pasta, decadent chocolates and every type of bakery product imaginable.

“Now in its second year, Think Food has attracted a lot of interest from buyers across the State,” said Catherine Barnett, Chief Executive Officer of Food SA.

As well as important South Australian buyers, six interstate buyers are also attending from Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia, including The Fearocious Feed, Savour and Grace, Hunters and Selectors, Coastal Fine Foods, Kirk Foods and Epicure.

“Food SA is the newly-formed peak food industry body, feeding connections across the industry,” said Ms Barnett. “Think Food is an important event, connecting producers and buyers in a targeted fashion and bringing direct sales leads to our producers.”

Think Food is a key project in the market development program of Food SA and supported by PIRSA.
