Take a look inside Echunga’s hidden gem, The Farm Shop

Adored by locals and city-dwellers alike, The Farm Shop is a must see on your next visit to Echunga.

With Spring starting to bring in the sunshine, there’s no better time to visit the picturesque Adelaide Hills, and this hidden gem is one stop to put on the list. Nestled away in Echunga, The Farm Shop is a must see on your next visit to the township. This charming shop delivers much more than what’s in its title, and is adored by locals and visitors alike.

Don’t be fooled by the name, as while the store does stock an array of farming supplies, it’s also bursting with rustic and diverse works from local artists, timeless antique gates, antiques and collectables plus delicious locally roasted coffee. Its main motto is ‘shop local, support local’, an ode within the store, as it beautifully honours the charm of Echunga.

Along with a large selection of garden supplies, fencing materials and fodder, The Farm Shop offers up a selection of unique vintage gifts, plus local art and sculptures. Delicious tastings of local produce are also on show, including a range of Bald Hills olive oils and chutneys from The Gourmet Entertainer.

To complete the experience, they also have a retro coffee bar, offering brews by locals, ‘By 6 Coffee Roasters’. Scrumptious homemade biscuits, cakes and slices are also available to compliment your caffeine hit, provided by one very talented and local baker.

The shop itself is a bi-product of Farm Gate Services, a South Australian family owned and operated business, helping manage and maintain farming properties across the Adelaide Hills. Operating since 2011, the company branched into a venture that was soon to become the face of the farming business, a place where people could relax, have a coffee and check out all that the business has to offer.

They proudly employ locals to work in their team in the field and in the Farm Shop, with the shop itself stocking almost solely Adelaide Hills artisan products. Their support for the community is evident in their involvement in the Echunga Community Association, dedicating their time to beautifying the town of Echunga, whilst growing a sense of community by running community events to attract those outside of the township.

The Farm Shop attracts people from far and wide, with its country charm and unique antique pieces just a couple of its major draw-cards. With the weather picking up, and Christmas around the corner, what better time than now to take a scenic drive to the beautiful Adelaide Hills and pick up a unique gift (or something for yourself!), whilst relaxing with that much-needed coffee. Just make sure your car boot is empty, or better still, bring a trailer!
