Adelaide Central Market’s Incredible Tasting Australia Program

The Adelaide Central Market will join South Australia’s food and wine industry to celebrate the state’s exceptional produce during Tasting Australia 2017 on Market days from 2-6 May.

A short walk from Tasting Australia’s hub in Victoria Square, the Market will host more than 25 food inspired events throughout the week, featuring an outstanding culinary line-up of Tasting Australia Festival Stars, Market traders, local chefs and artisan producers.

Adelaide Central Market Authority General Manager Aaron Brumby said the ‘Makers at the Market’ series of free events would be an exciting opportunity for locals and interstate visitors to be inspired by some of the best food talent in the nation.

“Taking part in Tasting Australia is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the world class produce made here in South Australia. Our week-long program of interactive demonstrations provides foodies the chance to access some of the best food talent in Australia at no cost, learn some new skills and experience the buzz of the Market,” Mr Brumby said.

On market days throughout Tasting Australia, the Free Makers at the Market program will feature Tasting Australia Festival Star Chefs Thi Le from Anchovy (Melbourne), Clayton Wells from Automata (Sydney), Analiese Gregory from Bar Brose (Sydney) alongside locals David Swain from Fino, master cheesemaker Kris Lloyd, chefs Poh Ling Yeow and Heather Day, meat guru Richard Gunner and a host of local producers and traders.

The Market’s associated events program also features some of the hottest tickets in town during Tasting Australia 2017. Legendary head chef, Frank Camorra from Movida (Melbourne), will team up with Market stall Comida’s Brad Sappenberghs for the sold out Moritz presents: Movida at Comida event.

The Market’s historic Market Tower will also be brought to life for the sold out Sew Tasty event. Limited tickets are still available for the Chef’s Table event on Thursday, 4 May, featuring Mitch Orr from ACME (Sydney) and Frank Camorra from Movida (Melbourne) along with the Eel Bites Emu event on Saturday, 6 May, featuring local legend Cheong Liew and Victor Liong from Lee Ho Fook (Melbourne). Both events will be held in the Market Kitchen, Level 1 Gouger Street.

Fans of Poh Ling Yeow’s Jamface Stall at the Market can still buy tickets to the Crunch Club dinner on Friday, 5 May, where guests will be treated to six-course meal made by Poh and matched with local wines.
