An iconic Adelaide Hills business is attempting to break a world record marshmallow roast with massive winter celebration

More than 2,000 people are set to gather in Piccadilly this winter as Woodhouse Adventure Park teams up with Scouts SA for a fire-lit festival of camping, nostalgia and an official world record attempt.

The Adelaide Hills will glow brighter than ever this June, with Woodhouse Adventure Park and Scouts SA joining forces for Flameboree, a huge winter celebration attempting to break the world record for the most people roasting marshmallows at once – and everyone is invited.

Held on Saturday, June 27th, the event will welcome the community for a full day and night of outdoor adventure, live entertainment and campfire magic, culminating in an official record attempt at 6:30pm.

The current record was set in 2012 in Kansas, with a whopping 1,272 people. Organisers are aiming to blow that number out of the water with more than 2,000 participants expected to take part.

For the Woodhouse team, Flameboree isn’t just about breaking records. “Campfires have always had a way of bringing people together – strangers become friends, stories get shared, and people slow down and genuinely connect,” shared Woodhouse Marketing and Business Development Manager Nicole Wood.

“We wanted to capture that feeling on a massive scale while celebrating the outdoors, community and a bit of nostalgia. There’s something pretty magical about thousands of people gathering around campfires in the middle of winter.”

On the day of Flameboree, Woodhouse will open from midday, inviting guests to explore its much-loved adventure attractions, including Challenge Hill, Tube Slides, bouldering, mazes and more. Then, throughout the afternoon, the park will transform into a winter festival space with live music, food stalls, games and cosy chill-out zones designed for families and groups to settle in.

At 5:30pm, a flaming torch procession will wind through the park, building anticipation ahead of the record-breaking moment as thousands gather around campfires, roasting sticks in hand and marshmallows at the ready.

“Flameboree is shaping up to be one of the biggest community events Woodhouse has ever hosted, and we’re incredibly excited to be creating it alongside Scouts SA,” said Nicole.

John Clarke, Chief Commissioner, Scouts SA added, “Campfires have been at the heart of Scouting traditions for generations. Flameboree is a celebration of community, connection and the outdoors – values that have always been central to Scouts SA.

“We’re incredibly excited to open this experience up to the wider community and invite thousands of people to share in something genuinely memorable together.”
