Oscar winning Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard will release his latest recording Drive All Night, this Friday 7th February via Spunk Records. Following the release of his first ever solo album, Rhythm and Repose, the four-song EP includes three original tracks and a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s classic song ‘Drive All Night’ featuring Hansard’s friends and fellow musicians Eddie Vedder, Jake Clemons and Joe Henry.

While the bones of the release date back to sessions for Rhythm and Repose, the recording of ‘Drive All Night’ was largely inspired by Hansard’s relationship with Jake Clemons, nephew of Clarence Clemons aka “The Big Man,” a prominent member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. A portion of proceeds from Drive All Night will go to Little Kids Rock, a non-profit organisation that was a favourite of the late Clarence Clemons, the Boss’ saxophonist and sidekick.Hansard is celebrated as the principal songwriter and vocalist/guitarist for the group The Frames, one of the most influential bands in Ireland. Known for his dedicated following and grounded, real-life songs, Hansard garnered a reputation as an unparalleled front man. In 2007, he and Czech songstress Markéta Irglová took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song for ‘Falling Slowly’ from the Once soundtrack. Hansard and Irglová continued the success of Once with the 2009 release Strict Joy under the namesake of The Swell Season.Following the release of Drive All Night, the acclaimed artist will return to Australia to play his first shows since touring with his band the Frames in early 2013. Touring with Hansard will be compatriot Lisa O’Neill, who also appeared at 2013’s lauded tour. Together, the teaming of Hansard, Ireland’s favourite minstrel and a favourite of Australian audiences, with O’Neill, one of the Emerald Isle’s rising new stars, will make for an unforgettable night of singing, storytelling and genuine musical passion.
