And don’t forget, Father’s Day is on Sunday September 1st, with heaps of events happening around the state, which we’ve pulled together in a guide here.

1. THE ROYAL ADELAIDE SHOW | AUGUST 31 – SEPTEMBER 8

It’s show time! South Australia’s longest-running event, the Royal Adelaide Show, is back for another year, running until Sunday September 8th. From thrilling new rides like The Joker, to expanded food offerings, the Show will have all your favourite Showbags, carnival attractions, exhibition pavilions, nightly fireworks and more.

2. Hahndorf Immersed | SEPTEMBER 1 – 30

Running throughout September, this year’s Hahndorf Immersed festival will feature over 40 artisan events and experiences. Formerly known as ‘Hahndorf. Handmade. Handcrafted. Handpicked.’, the new name reflects its bigger scope. Celebrated as the Best Regional Event at the 2021 South Australian Tourism Awards, the festival showcases local artisans, including leather smiths and chocolatiers. Highlights of the variety of activities include pretzel decorating at The Haus, Sabrage and bouquet crafting at Sidewood Estate, and pottery making at the Hahndorf Academy.

3. Fire Feast at Pikes Beer Company | SEPTEMBER 7

Pikes Beer Co. is heating things up with their exciting Fire Feast on Saturday September 7th at 6pm in Sevenhill. Join them for an evening of fantastic flavours and great vibes, featuring a beer-inspired menu cooked over an open flame. After last year’s sold-out success, this year’s event promises to be even better. For $95, they’ll have a rolling feast of five amazing dishes cooked over the fire by SLATE Restaurant, plus sample three exclusive, limited-edition beers from Pikes Beer Co.

4. Adelaide Guitar Festival | SEPTEMBER 12 – 29

Presented by Adelaide Festival Centre, the Adelaide Guitar Festival will showcase an exciting line-up of the world’s most acclaimed guitar talents, running from September 12th to 29th. Celebrated as a global hub for musicians and fans of the guitar, the Adelaide Guitar Festival showcases different genres including classical, jazz, rock, flamenco and more. This year, the event will not only feature local talents, but also stellar guitarists from across the globe.

5. SYNTHONY | SEPTEMBER 13

Australia’s biggest orchestrated dance party SYNTHONY is returning to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Friday the 13th September. Audiences will be taken on a journey through the most memorable and iconic electronic tracks presented by The Southern Cross Symphony. Conducted by Sarah-Grace Williams, SYNTHONY reimagines tracks from legendary artists like Swedish House Mafia, Basement Jaxx, Avicii, Fatboy Slim, Calvin Harris, Faithless, Fisher and more.

6. CITY TO BAY | SEPTEMBER 15

The Lumary City-Bay Fun Run is back this September 15th, set to attract runners from across the country. The event raises funds to support Athletics in SA and is run by a team of faithful volunteers. Sign up for a 3km, 6km, 12km or half marathon and get those endorphins pumping! The first race was held in November 1973, where 1,600 enthusiastic runners paid 50c each to enter the 11.5 kilometre run which finished at the Glenelg Town Hall. Over half a century later, it’s a little different with prices starting from $50 for adults.

7. Adelaide Latin Festival | SEPTEMBER 20 – 21

The Adelaide Latin Festival is set to heat up the old Adelaide Gaol once again on Friday the 20th of September and Saturday the 21st. Building on the roaring success of its debut, this year’s festival, brought to you by Latin Star Productions in collaboration with Latino Grooves and BBC Adelaide, promises an even more vibrant celebration of Latin culture. From the moment the gates open at 6:30pm on Friday, until the final dance at midnight on Saturday, festival-goers can expect a jam-packed weekend full of passion, music, and dance.

8. GRENACHE AND GOURMET | SEPTEMBER 20 – OCTOBER 7

McLaren Vale, famous for its exceptional Grenache, is hosting the annual Grenache and Gourmet Festival starting this September 20th. It’s set to be a two-week celebration of the region’s top-notch Grenache wines and culinary talents. Experience a variety of events at iconic wineries and venues, including cozy long lunches, rare back-vintage tastings, and exclusive behind-the-scenes tours.

9. LISTEN IN 2024

Adelaide’s Listen In 2024 festival is returning to Ellis Park on Sunday September 29th. The lineup will feature 21 Savage, Folamour, Jessie Reyez, John Summit, Lil Tjay, A Little Sound, Skepta, Theodore Kittens, Apollo (Live) Triple J Unearthed Winners and more. Listen In festival in Adelaide is a smaller version of the major Listen Out festival that is back for another year across Australia, in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, over October and September. The festival showcases a range of artists in dance, electronic, and hip hop.

10. EDEN | extended season til September 29

In partnership with Adelaide’s Centre of Immersive Light and Art (ILA), the Berlin design studio flora&faunavisions is showcasing EDEN, an immersive experience that transports visitors to a digital garden paradise. Combining stunning visuals with an engaging soundscape, EDEN merges art and nature in an interactive space for a truly mesmerising experience. The event, which has been running for a while, has extended its season until the end of September.
